About The Journal

    When Women Waken

A Journal of Poetry, Prose & Images by Women

When Women Waken was an online and print literary and arts journal publishing fresh voices and art in English from around the world.

Our interest was in writing and art about writing; women’s relationships to their selves and others, and to society and nature. Inter-cultural, inter-national, inter-racial and multi-lingual topics are especially invited.

In addition to providing a platform for women’s words and art expressions, When Women Waken extends your reach through online channels. When Women Wakens also selected six of the written submissions for consideration for the Pushcart Prize, a high recognition awarded to about 2,000 submissions from over 500 small presses. We do not announce who we are submitting as the recognition is not so much the nomination, as it is the acceptance of the submission into the Pushcart Prize Best of the Small Presses Annual Publication.
